Spring Concert

On Monday night May 15, in the gym, St. Rose High School had its annual spring concert. The St. Rose choir spent the night singing to family and friends who went to watch them. It was held with serendipity and the night had a combination of all types of art: singing, dancing, and art.

The choir specifically had their Spring Concert which they work up to every year. Since September the choir has been practicing and getting ready for the spring concert. The choir also attended the Teen Arts Festival, but most of their focus goes on perfecting their performances for the Spring Concert. Mrs. Madden, the director of the choir, has been working diligently to make sure that the choir is readily prepared for the night.

At the concert, the choir saying a variety of music. As a group, the choir performed an Ave Maria medley, and a Dionne Warwick medley. Some of Dionne Warwick’s most famous songs include “That’s What Friends Are For” and “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” in addition to the group performances, some members of the choir sang solo pieces. Senior Emily Swenarton sang “Love Has Eyes”, Megan Stefanacci sang “Fields of Gold” Kayla Latendresse sang “There You’ll Be” Tori Reich sang “Think of Me”, and junior Alec Kuncken also performed a solo. The choir had a variety of music from old classics to modern pop. The concert helped the choir to show how much talent they have and how hard they have been working on these songs since September.

For senior Emily Swenarton, it was her last time being able to perform with the choir at St. Rose. For the past three years Emily has played a huge part in the choir, and for the last two years Emily has been the cantor at school masses. Emily said that she has had so much fun being in the choir and it is an experience she won’t forget. “I’ve made so many friends over the last three years and I’ll miss it next year.” Even though her time in the choir in done, the Spring Concert was a nice way for Emily to end her three years in the choir at St. Rose.
