Girls Golf

The Girls golf team has just completed their third season competing on the varsity level . The team finished with a winning match record of 6 wins and 5 losses, their second winning season in a row. The season started out strong with a win over Freehold Boro. The team then suffered four losses in a row. A late season rally of four straight wins helped the girls achieve one of their goals; having a winning season. The team has been led by seniors Samantha Boehmcke, Samantha Loori and Ava O’Shaughnessy. Kelly Crines, Lauren Hickey, Kate Bourke, Fiona Jordan and Emma Dougherty have also contributed on the varsity level this season. Coach Connelley is happy with how the team has played, saying “I am very proud of the girls they played well this season and had fun doing it. Many of the girls didn’t have much experience, they practiced hard and stepped right into the starting line up.”
The girls finished third in their division, B – South, this was the first year competing in divisional play for the team. They finished in sixth place at the Monmouth County Championships as a team. Samantha Loori, along with Samantha Boehmcke, qualified individually for the girls Shore conference tournament that was held at Jumping Brook Golf Club. Samantha Boehmcke finished in 18th place while Samantha Loori finished in 20th place, both improving on their finishes from a year ago.
The team is graduating three seniors with 5 players returning with experience which has Coach Connelley optimistic for next season. “We have a strong team returning next season, all players have match experience and have improved throughout the season. I am looking forward to see how the girls improve over the off season.” Senior Captain Samantha Boehmcke added, “Our senior year was one for the books. We played well in all of our matches and tournaments, we continued to grow a name for the St Rose Girls Golf Team in the Shore Conference. I am very proud of all the girls that stepped up this year because they played a huge role in our winning season record of 6-5! It has been an amazing ride these past 4 years and I can not believe it has come to an end. I am excited to see what the future holds for the rest of the girls.” Best of luck next year!
