Beauty & the Beast

Last week, our Theater Department showcased their Spring Musical, telling the popular Disney story of Beauty and the Beast. The cast and crew have been working with Mrs. Kain and their choreographer since the Fall to get ready for their long awaited performances.

The play was held at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove for three consecutive nights. The shows were held on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with a dress rehearsal the first day and a matinee at 1 p.m. the last day. The dress rehearsal was put on for Saint Rose Grammar School so they could get in on the experience too.

The cast worked very hard to tell this classic story in the best way for their families and classmates. Tori Reich, a junior, played the main role of Belle and did an impeccable job. Her voice echoed throughout the theater and she never once stuttered over her lines. Alec Kuncken, a senior, played the role of the Beast, and made sure to embody the feelings and hardships that the Beast went through in the story. His hard work to get the right persona paid off, especially during his solo performances. Evan Cantlon and Joe Hickey, both seniors, played Gaston and Lefou, the villains in the story. Since Joe and Evan and real life best friends, their performance was flawless and easygoing.  You could tell how much fun they were having together up on stage. AnnieRose DiMirro, another senior, played Mrs.Potts, and got the privilege to sing the famous song Beauty and the Beast during the dancing scene with Belle and the Beast. Dillion Groh, a junior, played Lumiere the candlestick, and perfected his French accent for the role. Gavin Springer, a freshman, played Cogsworth the clock beside Dillon. Madison Cancro, a sophomore, played the feather duster, and Jada Weedon, a junior, played the wardrobe. Mr. Appleyard and Mrs. Carton were in charge of stage and makeup crew, which did an amazing job with moving props and getting everyone ready for the show. Mrs. Fallon was in charge of all of the amazing costumes!

We applaud Mrs. Kain and all who participated in this years Spring Musical for putting on an incredible show, and one that did the story of Beauty and the Beast justice and showcased the talent we have here at St.Rose.
