Boys Golf

The boys golf team has been working nonstop throughout the past season. Their goal was to improve upon their game from last year. The boys took time to have practices with each other over the summer break to keep the chemistry going and to aim to have a better season. And all their hard work paid off. The boys had an even better season. They finish the season off in style with an undefeated 13-0 winning season and the Central B division title once again.
The boys began the year off at the Wall Invitational tournament finishing in first place by a 14 shots. Noah Conforti took third place in this tournament with a three over 75 which was quite amazing for the weather conditions of the tournament. This really jump started the season. The next big tournament that the boys played in was the Monmouth County tournament and the Shore conference tournament.
At the Monmouth County tournament the boys finished second to CBA. The following week in the worst condition possible to play golf, cold and torrential rain, the boys had a Shore conference match. The boys finished second to CBA once again, but they almost pulled off the impossible by beating them. The boys only lost by six strokes. Jack McDonough said “Shore conference was the hardest tournament that I have ever played in. You need a strong mental game to get through the round without shooting a high number.” Christian Ruchalski finish in fourth place by shooting 76 four over par despite brutal conditions.
The boys just played in the state sectional tournament this Monday in Ewing, New Jersey at Mountain View golf course. With a win at sectionals, the boys have won Non Public B South for the past eight in a row! An amazing 33 shot victory over Bishop Eustace is considered a blow out in the golfing world. The boys had 4 out of the 5 top five finishers. Christian Ruchalski shot 77 which won the tournament by three strokes over Pat Gates and Brendan Kenny who tied for second place at 80. Noah Conforti came in fifth place at 85. Those were tremendous scores in the windy conditions on Monday.
The boys look to wrap up their season this Monday with an outright Non Public B state championship at Hopewell Valley, New Jersey. Coach Connelly said “the boys have the best chance since the last time they won the overall tournament back in 2013”. The boys will be playing against Pingry, Bishop Eustace and Morristown-Beard. Best of luck to the boys and let’s hope they bring home a win in the Non Public B state championship.
